Since September 2006, the Unified Communications Center (UCC) has been the center of operations for 911 and 311 calls. The UCC provides a central location for multiple agencies to address a variety of situations.
911 has been designated as the "Universal Emergency Number" throughout the United States. OUC oversees the designated call center for all District emergency 911 calls. Dial 911 to request police, fire and emergency medical services.
Dial 311, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to request scheduled services such as trash removal, repair of potholes, bulk pickups and recycling. If you are a DC resident, you can also call 311 to report a missed scheduled service, get city agency phone numbers and learn their hours of operation, and request other services.

From trash pickup to traffic signals, the Service Request Center makes it easy to submit requests online. You will receive a tracking number, enabling you to check the status of your request.
OUC manages all public and non-public safety communications, including call center technology. We also manage the operations and maintenance of public safety voice radio technology.
