Nearly 400 students participated in event

On March 30th, the Office of Unified Communications (OUC) helped promote the kick-off of National 911 Education Month during a block party at Martin Luther King Junior Elementary School. The event, hosted by the National Emergency Number Association (NENA), the E911 Institute, and the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO), in conjunction with OUC, served as the national commencement of the annual month-long effort to educate all Americans on the proper usage of 911. Close to 400 students of the school participated in a number of educational and fun activities— from interacting with McGruff the Crime Dog and climbing onboard a fire department ladder truck to exploring a "911 Simulator Hazard House."
